If you haven’t noticed yet you will soon realize that Facebook has rolled out the inline ads. I suppose that from a realistic point of view it was just a matter of time. I guess that I was expecting them to maybe be displayed in either of the two sidebars, but now they even have ads displaying in the inline-feed. I personally believe its very distracting, and quite frankly, STUPID!
I’ve been on Facebook since July of 2008 and to this day I cannot remember how many updates and changes have taken place without any type of notice to me. From the trivial little tweaks, the introduction of the timeline, and most importantly those major updates that make all of your information public, Facebook has been silently changing the way that we as users socially engage with one another. But now the advertisements everywhere. Really?
Just yesterday when I first learned of their latest scheme, I incidentally and without intent clicked on one of these inline ads and was taken to a new browser tab where I was given an opportunity to take a survey that would reward me one of several coercive gifts upon completion. Needless to say I am not real impressed with Facebook’s implementation of advertising. If you just happen to be a Facebook friend of mine and you don’t see a whole lot of activity from me, you may want to visit my Google+ profile.
Although the Google+ platform has yet to become real popular, I would certainly endorse it to anyone who wishes to enjoy a relatively stable social media outlet. Google+ doesn’t make all your personal information public without notifying you, and any major changes that they plan to implement in the Google+ platform are preceded by an email advising you of such.
Enough is enough with Facebook already!
